Aiden's First Trip - Chicago

This is Aiden's first longest trip and we took him to Chicago. Aiden visited downtown chicago, Shedd Aquarium, Botanical Garden with Grandpa and Grandma Li and Mom! We had a lot of fun!!

New playmat

While Aiden was about 2-month old, we got him a tinylove playmat. He really loved to lay in there, listened to the music and watched the animals. This picture will testify.

Daddy's second try out

On Aiden's 19-day b-day, Daddy gave another try to take pictures of Aiden. Mommy liked this one best since he posed like a future Kongfu star.

Little feet and hands

Aiden is 11-day old today. Mommy asked Daddy to give his best shot to capture those tiny feet and hands.

Cousins Grant and Audrey come to visit

On Aiden's 4th-day birthday, cousins Grant and Audrey Zeigler came to our home to visit baby Aiden. Unluckily, Aiden slept the whole time while they were here. But Grant and Audrey really loved to hold Aiden.

Going home with Mom and Dad for the first time

We were finally discharged from hospital on March 13, 2009 two days after Aiden was born. Everybody was ready to go home except Mommy since Mommy really enjoyed having all her questions about newborn answered right away by doctors and nurses. Aiden definitely didn't like to be stripped down in his car seat for the first time. Check him out!

Grandparents' Hospital Visit

The day after Aiden was born (March 12, 2009), grandparents Zeigler and Li came to the hospital to check out newborn Aiden. They were very interested in Aiden's hair since he was born with a lot of black hair. Nurse lady couldn't help styling his hair in mohawk.

Birth of Our First Son - Aiden Zeigler

My participated due date was March 6, 2009. I was about 2 cm dilated and 75% effacement on the due date, but I had no contraction whatsoever. My OB decided to have another ultrasound on March 9 to make sure placenta was still good and there were enough amnio fluid for the baby. So we had another chance to look at our baby boy before he was born. The pictures weren't clear enough due to lack of fluid. The nurse also performed stress test to make sure everything was OK. The baby wasn't moving around much, I guess he was sleeping. So the nurse had to use a vibrator to "wake him up". I felt him jump when the vibrator was on my belly.

After the ultrasound and stress test, the OB decided to schedule an induction on March 11. That morning, we arrived at hospital at 6:30 and started the IV around 7am. I didn't wanna epidural right away since I wanted to experience some contractions. But around noon time, the contractions got stronger and lasted longer. So I decided to have epidural that time and I felt I was in heaven after the epidural. :))

At around 4:30PM, the nurse came in and checked on me. I was fully dilated and 100% effaced and baby's head had dropped. Nurse had me practice a few push before OB comes in. At around 4:50, the OB came in and I started pushing. Both baby and me were doing so great during the push and at 5:17PM, my baby boy decided to come out and see the new world and his brand-new parents!! He weighed 8lbs 8oz and measures 21.5 inches. What a big boy!! Our new life and journey has started since the moment he was born.....

Our first pregnancy

My husband and I have been planning to get pregnant since February,2008. Luckily enough, we got pregnant in June 2008 and my due date was March 6, 2009. When we first found out I was pregnant at home on July 13, we were both excited and a little scared too even though it was in our plan. We immediately set up our first OB appointment to get it confirmed. On July 21, 2008, we went in for our first ultrasound and I was 7 weeks pregnant. We saw our little "bean" and heard the baby's heart beat for the first time. The baby was 1cm long and heart beat was 148. Until that time, we still couldn't believe we were pregnant.From then on, I started my regular OB check up once a month until I was 28 weeks pregnant and then twice a month until 36 weeks, followed by once a week until our baby was born. I had fairly easy pregnancy since I didn't have any morning sickness, no nausea or vomitting until my second trimester ATP screening test results came back. The screening test showed I had increased risk of having a Trisomy 18 baby, which is also called Edward Syndrome and I have never heard of that in my life. I called hubby and cried on the phone so much. The OB recommended me to go to see a maternal specialist for further evaluation. Then we went to the specialist on September 29, 2008 to have our second level II ultrasound. During the ultrasound, we saw our little one again. This time, we saw his face, head, arms, legs, hands, feet, heart and even kidney and stomach. We also found out that we were having a little boy and he was 17 weeks old that day. We were quite nervous to hear the results of ultrasound. The good news was that specialist thought everything looked fine, but I wanted to have a more accurate result, I should opt to do amniocentesis. But I would also had 1% risk of miscarriage. After a few weeks struggling, we decided to do amniocentesis on October 20, 2008 and three days later our preliminary FISH result came back and showed it was a healthy boy. 10 days later, our full analysis results came back and showed the same result. It was quite difficult time for me and my husband, but everything turned out fine. I started to feel his movement around 18 weeks. It felt very strange and at that time I wasn't sure it was baby movement or it was just a gas bubble. Then as time goes by, I started feeling stronger movement and sometimes even kick. One time, I had my hubby put his hand on my belly and he felt the baby's movement for his first time. He was really excited and thought it felt strange too. For the rest of the pregnancy, I went through all the required test and passed everything. The baby was growing at good pace. Around 31 weeks, the OB thought he was in breech position but by 34 weeks check up, he turned around himself. Good Boy
