Beihai Park - Beijing
On the last day in Beijing, we took kids to Beihai park which is located next to Forbidden City. The park was quite busy in the morning as elderly were exercising or wandering in the park. Kids were quite interested in watching elderly "street dancing". Aiden wanted his pictures taken in every piece of rock by the lake. It was quite nice to spend some relaxing family time early morning in the park.

Badaling Great Wall
Kids loved the Great Wall as they got to climb the stairs. Aiden was so energetic and was able to climb all the way to the top by himself. Mia did great job too. She climbed 1/3 way up but then got really sleepy and Mommy had to carry her for the rest of climbing. Mommy was so glad that her recent workout at home had paid off. Both kids got a medal engraved with their names and date of climbing great wall. We decided to take trolley down as it was more difficult to go down due to steepness. The photos were snapped from the video and the quality isn't that great but at least it showed kids climbed the Great Wall.

Summer Palace - Beijing
Due to an unfortunate event (camera was accidentally lost in Kunming airport), we lost all the pictures we took in Beijing for kids including trips to forbidden city, summer palace, great wall, Beihai and Jingshan Park. But fortunately, Grandpa Li had his ipad with him and snapped some shots of kids in summer palace and Beihai park. Aiden had some interesting conversation with Mommy during the trip to Forbidden city.
Aiden: who lives in this place?
Mommy: emperor
Aiden: where is emperor?
Mommy: pass away
Aiden: why?
Mommy: this was a long time ago
Then we saw some people wearing emperor clothing taking photos and mommy pointed to Aiden said "that was how emperor was dressed".
Aiden: you said he is gone
Mommy: yes, that one was not real
Aiden watched a little bit and said "yes, he is real and he is moving"
LOL

Off to China
Aiden will be starting kindergarten this August. Before school we planned a trip to China and it was first time for both kids back to China. We had one hour flight from Indy to Chicago followed by nearly 4 hours wait and another 12 hours flight from Chicago to Beijing. Kids did really well on the long flights. Mia took two naps with about 7 hours total. Aiden took one nap close to 6 hours. While they were awake, they were occupied with movies offered by airlines, games on iPad and some drawing activities. There was no melt down which was a big relief for Mommy since Mommy took both kids alone as Daddy can only join us a week later. Upon arrival, grandparents Li werer waiting for us in Beijing airport and kids were very excited to see them.

Memorial Day Weekend at Zoo
The weather couldn't have been better for the holiday weekend. We took kids to zoo on Sunday morning as the zoo welcomed some new friends - orangutan s. Kids like to watch them swing, climb and one of them got quite close to Mia's face and she freaked out and immediately stepped back. We also caught the fantastic dog show. Mia really liked the show and clapped when the crowds did.
