My photo
Started with two of us - Matt and Haoyue on March 23, 2004. Then our first son Aiden was born on March 11, 2009 and our daughter Mia was born on November 21, 2011. This blog is our way to keep family and friends updated about our family of four.

New Home

Mommy and Daddy have been very busy these few months. We decided to sell our 1600 sqft home with tiny yard built in 1999 and buy a bigger home and huge yard built in 1964. The new "old" home is 2855 sqft with about 1500 sqft unfinished basement. The lot is about 1.2 acres vs. 0.16 acres we had in previous home. So we got huge space for kids to play and run around. But the house itself needs a lot of work. Previous homeowner who was a judge has been living in the house for 47 years since it was built. He passed away in 2011 and house has been empty since then. The interior is quite outdated and wall paper was almost everywhere. We even have one side of master bedroom wall covered with mirror. We also get pink and green bathrooms and very 60s look kitchen. Grandparents Zeigler have been working very hard to help us to get all bedrooms ready to live in. We made very good progress on cleaning and painting. The next projects will be updating kitchen, bathroom etc.
But here are some before and after pictures of the rooms we have torn the wall paper and painted.
Some rooms in after pictures were not completely done as we still needed to put register cover on and clean up and move the ladders :). Both kids had a little hard time to adjust on the first night especially Aiden. He kept saying he wanted to go home at the first night as he has been living in the other house for 3.5 years and in his mind, that is HIS home.

9-Month Old Mia

Time flies so FAST with two kids. Mia had her 9-month check up on the day she turned 9 months. She is a BIG girl,  measures 30.75 inches (99%), weighs 21 lbs 2.4oz (89%). She is 0.25 inches taller and 1 lbs heavier than Aiden at 12 months.

1. Physical development.  She has been trying to take off to crawl. But one of her leg always gets stuck and she couldn't figure out how to get it out. She loves to stand by holding to us or furniture and she can also stand by herself without any support for about 30 seconds.
2. Feeding. She takes 4 bottles a day for about 19 oz total and takes 2-3 solids. She can feed herself cracker, bread. She can pick up cheerios but when it fells into her palm, she can't figure out how to get them out. We are also trying to get her to use sippy cup. But overall, she is a great eater and eats pretty much everything we feed her.
3. Sleep. She is a champion when it comes to sleep. She sleeps about 11 hours straight at night and takes about 2 naps for about 3 hours total.
4. Social development. She has pretty strong stranger anxiety since she was around 5 months old. She usually does fine with stranger if she is at home. But if she goes to strange place to see strangers, that usually takes her a while to get used to it. She still loves to watch Aiden play and sometimes imitate his movements.

Overall, she has been a very healthy and easy baby.

P.S. Mommy took her for 9-month portrait. We were only able to get a handful pictures before she started crying at photographers. But the pictures are still cute.
