The Zeigler Family

My photo
Started with two of us - Matt and Haoyue on March 23, 2004. Then our first son Aiden was born on March 11, 2009 and our daughter Mia was born on November 21, 2011. This blog is our way to keep family and friends updated about our family of four.

Downtown Holland

On the last day of our trip, we strolled around downtown holland. Aiden got to see the caboose and very long cargo train passing by. But the thing he enjoyed most was to push his stroller on the side walk. It was very nice and relaxing to wander around the small pretty town.

Windmill Island Garden

The Windmill in Holland is about 200 years old in the garden and it is still working as it is still producing flour for sale. Aiden really liked to go up and down the stairs inside the windmill. The garden is really gorgeous with so many varieties of tulips. The colors were so vivid. Aiden also saw the peacock for the first time and lucky him, the peacock opened his feather for Aiden.

Dutch Village - Holland, Michigan

Holland is a small town in southwest of Michigan. It is right next to Lake Michigan. The city was founded by a Dutch immigrant. It is a very clean and pretty small town and a lot of tulips are planted in the downtown area. We took Aiden to the Dutch village where he did the big wooden shoe slide, pet the goats and bunnies and fed the geese and ducks. He even tried the old-style go-cart. But he didn't really have the strength to make it move much.

Meijer Garden in Grand Rapids

Grandparents Li, Mom, Aiden and Mia took a trip to Michigan last weekend. Due to the warm spring weather in March, all the tulips are blooming at least 3 weeks earlier than usual. Our first stop was Meijer garden in Grand Rapids. Aiden really enjoyed the butterfly house and children garden. In the children garden, he played the boats in the water that was shaped as Great Lakes and he also loved to play in the tree house as he could walk on the bouncing bridge over and over again. We had really nice walk as well in the garden.

Swing Time

The other night after dinner, we took Mia out for her first time baby swing. Aiden wasn't too happy that she was swinging in "his" swing. Aiden still does baby swing as he can go really high. But after Mommy told him to take turns, he actually did well and even pushed his lil sister on the swing for a while. And Mia also enjoyed her first swing.

Cute Chubby Mia

So far we are really luck out with Mia in terms of her sleeping. We did sleep training for a night or two. After that, she has fallen asleep by herself at naps and at night. And she has been sleeping 10-12 hours straight. Once a while she makes a little crying but most of time she can put herself back to sleep by sucking her thumb. In the morning, when she wakes up, she just lays in her crib playing with her fingers and hardly makes any noise. Aiden was completely opposite. He would cry the moment he woke up. And he still let us know when he is up now by calling Mommy or Daddy loud. Here are some Mia's recent pictures. She is so chubby and cute.

More Sibling Time

Mommy has been trying to take some pictures of Aiden and Mia on the couch at different periods to show how much they have been growing.

Easter Egg Hunting

It is Aiden's 2nd time for egg hunting in Lions park. Last year, he was in 1-2 years old group and Mommy had to follow him. This year, he was in 3-4 years old group and parents are not allowed in. He was very excited for the egg hunt saying "I want egg hunt". But when the hunt started, he got a little scared as there were so many 3-4 years old rushing into the field picking up the eggs. It was like the bees flying out the broken hives. Then when he saw other kids picking up eggs, he finally warmed up and but it was a little too late. He picked up 4 eggs and ate all the tootsie rolls in the eggs. He also got a rubber duck and redeemed a beanie dog.
