Mia's One-Week Checkup

Mia was discharged with a little over 10% weight loss at 8lbs 1.6oz (weight birth 9lbs 1oz). So we had to take her to pediatrician's office for one-week follow up. She has been nursing really well and also takes bottle well. We started 0.5 oz and now we are at 1.5 oz after nursing for over half an hour. Everything looks and sounds good at check up. She weighs 8lbs 14.5oz (87%), measures 21.5 inches (99%) and 35.25cm (74%)for head circumference. She gained almost 13 oz in 4 days and is on her way to get back to her birth weight at 2-week check up.

Four Zeigler Musketeers

Cousins Grant and Audrey visited little Mia on the way home from Disney world. They brought her cute pink owl and flowers sleep and play and little lady socks that look like shoes. Of course, they also brought Aiden some Christmas tree shaped sweet rice crispy treat and Cars 2 puzzles.

Mia stayed awake for quite a bit time and we laid her on the floor so that Aiden can play with her. Aiden was very interested in her. He told me "baby eyes open". When Mia stretched, she touched him and he came over saying "she touched me".

Going home on Thanksgiving

We got to go home from hospital on Thanksgiving day. Daddy picked up Aiden in the morning to take Mommy and Mia home. We also have big turkey dinner ready for us at home prepared by grandparents Zeigler. This will be our first Thanksgiving as family of four.

Aiden was ready to go home nearly 2 years 9 months before

Mia, Day 3

Mia's weight stayed steady at 8lbs 12 oz and only dropped about 5% from birth weight. Still a BIG girl. She slept much better the second night compared to the first night. Both Daddy and Mommy were able to get about 6 hours sleep last night. Every assessment on Mia is pretty good, passed hearing test, got her immunization of Hep B and bilirubin level was low. The only test left for her is to get her blood drawn for new born screening in addition to a couple of additional regular assessment. Mommy still has some pain in the incision from c-section but controllable with pain medication. Everything is going good and we are supposed to be discharged tomorrow morning and ready to go home to spend our first Thanksgiving as family of four.

Another Visit from Big Bro Aiden

Daddy picked up Aiden from daycare and stopped by the hospital to see Mia. Mia was in the nursery to get assessment when Aiden walked in. He looked around and asked me "where is Mia?". Then Mia came back from the assessment and she was crying. Aiden put down his food and ran to her and checked on her. I told him to give her gentle touch and maybe she would stop crying. He did very gently like big boy. Also he was more interested in her than first visit. He touched her face and feet and even told us "I want to hold the baby". So daddy held Mia and sat on the couch and had Aiden sit next to him. Aiden was hugging her, touching her gently and even put his face on her. What a sweet big bro!!

Big Brother Aiden's First Visit

Big brother Aiden came to visit on the day of Mia's birth. He brought Mommy a hand make turkey from daycare. He was very interested to check on Mia. When Daddy tried to pick up Mia from crib, he tip-toed and watched. Then he gently touched her face and hair. He didn't show any jealous sign while Mommy or Daddy held Mia. Grandma Zeigler also brought some outfits for Mia and when Mommy took little white socks out of the bag, Aiden grabbed it and handed to Mia.

Welcome, Mia Yuhan

Aiden now has a cute little sister, Mia Yuhan, born at 7:44am on November 21st, weighing in at 9 pounds 1 oz and measuring 21.25 inches. Her middle name is a Chinese name means water lilly in the rain. She is such a big baby with very cute chunky cheek and a LOT of soft black hair. Aiden was quite interested in her today when he came to the hospital to see Mia and Mom.
